The magnitude of sexual harassment allegations that recently shook Hollywood and the media sector has left leaders in all industries questioning this behavior in their own industries and organizations. This panel brings together a mix of senior leaders to discuss observations on the prevalence of sexual harassment in the energy industry and what actions are being implemented to ensure employees feel safe in their work environment. The discussion will address tactical HR approaches to eliminate sexual harassment using this crisis as a wake-up call to create a better, safer work environment, and the responsibility of senior leaders to put tough issues on the table that address how we treat each other at work, no matter what our differences – including race, gender, orientation, creed and every attribute that makes our workforces unique. |

The mobility revolution we’re experiencing today is changing the way consumers are using transportation. From ride-sharing and on-demand transportation, to autonomous and electric vehicles, eMobility will lead to a major change in the interaction between customers, utilities and car manufacturers. All of this change will open up large opportunities around electric vehicles. The future of energy-supply companies in the increasingly decentralized generation of power lies in finding new solutions and business models for the sale of electricity. Automotive OEMs will also have to adopt their strategies to the electric challenge. This panel will address topics including the future of an effective eMobility value chain, changing customer demand for utilities’ strategies, an eMobility ecosystem that guarantees ease of use for the customer, and whether a wide spread charging infrastructure will pay off in light of the tremendous tech advancements in the battery technology space. |

KPMG hosted the Global Energy Conference, on June 6-7, 2018 in Houston, TX. The conference brought together senior energy executives and thought leaders from the oil, gas, power, and utility industries to discuss and debate the biggest trends and challenges facing the global energy sector. The agenda included perspectives from our keynote speakers who were uniquely positioned to discuss today’s environment. Soledad O’Brien, award-winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor, and producer, lead us in thinking about the role of the media in today’s heavily polarized discussions, allegations of external manipulation, and whether the notion of “fake news” has truly affected the global public. The Honorable George J. Mitchell, former U.S. Senate majority leader (1989–1995), who received an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for negotiating the Good Friday Peace Agreement between Northern Ireland and Ireland after three decades of conflict, shared his views on how we move forward in a unilateral, G-Zero world, a scenario in which there is no one country that can drive a truly global agenda.
