The CARES Act created a $100 billion relief fund for providers. The first $30 billion was allocated earlier this month based on providers’ share of 2019 Medicare fee-for-service- reimbursement. HHS has now announced plans to distribute the remaining $70 billion.
This issue brief outlines the criteria for distribution of the soon-to-be released funds, including $10 billion to hospitals in areas hit particularly hard by the pandemic and $10 billion to rural hospitals and clinics. A link to details on deadlines and application requirements is also included.
