Our Vision on Reimagining the Workforce
Listen to KPMG executives discuss how leveraging innovative approaches and emerging technologies can help attract and retain talent
Each industry is facing a labor shortage, but Healthcare may be unique given the Pandemic burnout as well as an aging demographic of clinicians. Healthcare organizations need to focus on how they can better understand, support, and empower the workforce of tomorrow not only to retain staff, but encourage the next generation to enter the industry. Employees are the new customers – in the same ways that companies have identified potential customers, built interest in their products or services, and measured and maintained customer satisfaction, they can do the same for employees and potential employees. KPMG helps organizations use data to identify job seekers in the market that would be a good fit for the type of roles needed, and who are likely to accept the jobs offered by an organization.
Healthcare leaders should begin by focusing on the whole person and enhancing specific benefits, and get buy-in to have those changes be accepted and encouraged to maximize impact. Done effectively, rewards can enhance cultural connection and be a positive element of the Employee Value Proposition. Healthcare organizations need to understand what drives an employee to stay. And just as patients require unique treatment, designing the most meaningful value proposition for employees is also not a one size fits all. Employees decide to join an organization just once, but their decision to stay occurs daily.
Post the pandemic, many organizations focused on hiring and rebuilding their workforce, but they need to challenge the status-quo to redesign the entire patient care delivery model leveraging technology to enable the future of work for healthcare to be transformed for generations to come.
