David is a Principal in KPMG’s Cyber Response Services practice. He has over 15 years of experience in Digital Forensics, Incident Response (IR), and Evidence and Discovery Management. Prior to David’s career at KPMG, he held various positions including working on the Information Security and Compliance team at Target Corporation.

For two years, David supported KPMG's Office of General Counsel leading and assisting in internal investigations involving identification, preservation, analysis, and presentation of KPMG’s Electronically Stored Information. Subject matters included government inquiries, IP theft, PII, data breaches, employee misconduct, & other sensitive subjects through the course of over 200 matters.

He was then selected to represent KPMG's U.S. Forensic Technology Services (FTS) practice for a global secondment in China. He significantly contributed to the growth of Asia Pacific's FTS practices by leading cross-border investigations, introducing methodologies and technologies consistent with the U.S., and making best practices transparent between global practices. Ultimately, David was in part responsible for the establishment of a FTS team and service line in Shanghai, China.

Currently, David helps play a leadership role overseeing delivery of KPMG's Cyber Response Services. He has worked on countless high profile matters involving trusted insiders, hacktivist groups and state sponsored adversaries. Additionally, he has testified in state court, in front of Federal Grand Jury, provided expert testimony, and has experience working in matters as a court appointed neutral. David is a trusted advisor for many CIOs, CISOs, and GC’s for responding to data breaches and was awarded the Consulting Magazine’s 35 under 35 award in 2019.

David also plays a lead role in the innovation. David has led over the last two years the development of KPMG Digital Responder, which helps organizations automate the triage of cyber security incidents and response to departing employee investigation. This was recognized in 2017 by analyst, Frost & Sullivan for the global “New Product Innovation Award for The Network Security Industry”.

David’s passion spans from his career into the community where he is a contributor, researcher, publisher, and frequent speaker. His efforts have been recognized by numerous accomplishments including the 2012 forensic4cast award for writing the “best forensic article of the year”, recipient of eight SANS “lethal forensicator” awards, winner of the 2012 Digital Mixed Marshal Arts Challenge at CEIC, runner up at the SANS Net Wars individual competition in 2014, and winner at SANS Net Wars team competition in 2017. David has also led the development on 4n6time, a free timeline tool used by thousands of people across government, public, and private organization. This software was nominated for the 2013 and 2014 "forensic software of the year" award. For this he was quoted in Digital Forensic Magazine as a “Visionary” and “Someone to watch...”
